  1. Take 2 cups of moth bean sprouts.
  2. Prepare 2 small to medium of Potatoes, cubed.
  3. Provide 1 of large or medium onion, finely chopped.
  4. Prepare 1-2 of green chilies, chopped.
  5. Provide 3-4 of garlic.
  6. Take 1 inch of ginger.
  7. Provide 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds.
  8. You need 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.
  9. Provide 10-12 of curry leaves.
  10. Provide 1-1.5 tablespoon of Goda masala or kala masala.
  11. Provide 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric powder.
  12. Take ½ teaspoon of Red chilli powder.
  13. Get 1 teaspoon of coriander powder 1 teaspoon cumin powder.
  14. Get 1.5 teaspoons or⅓ or ½ cup of tamarind, soaked in water.
  15. Use 2 to 3 of kokums.
  16. Provide 3/4 cup of water or add as required.
  17. You need 3 tablespoons of oil.
  18. You need As per taste of Salt.
  19. Provide 8 to 10 of Misal pav (bread rolls) or bread slices as required.
  20. Prepare 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions.
  21. Use 1/2 cup of finely chopped tomatoes (optional).
  22. Take 1/2-1 cup of thick sev or farsan (chiwda), fried savory snack mixture.
  23. Provide 1 of lemon or lime quartered or diced.
  24. Prepare 1/3 cup of chopped coriander leaves.
  25. Provide 1/2 cup of fresh curd or yogurt, beaten, optional.

Steps to make Misal Pav:

  1. Preparation for misal pav- Rinse the moth bean sprouts first in running water. The drain and then add the sprouts, cubed potatoes, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, salt in a pressure cooker. Then the water should be covering the matki sprouts about ½ inch above. If using mixed bean sprouts, you will have to add more water. Pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles..
  2. In a small bowl soak the tamarind in ⅓ or ½ cup warm water for 25 to 30 mins. Squeeze the tamarind and extract the pulp. Keep the tamarind pulp aside and making usal for misal pav. Heat oil in another pan and crackle the mustard seeds first. Then add the cumin and saute for some seconds till the cumin gets golden..
