Our Story

Our founder is Eric Sohl, a Dutch/Belgian graphic designer with some south-African thrown in the mix. He loves food, photography, design and travel, all mixed up with some good spices and flavours. A true foodie at heart, he won’t shy away from tasting some raw horse meat sushi in Japan or living the life on a dusty road in the Karoo of South Africa.

After a solo photo exhibition on food pictures from around Europe, his appetite has become even bigger for the subject. His travels from Seattle to Tokyo and from Cape Town to Helsinki have shaped his international foodie appetite and gastronomical knowledge.

He’s also the creative heart behind Tasting and Living, which started many years ago in a different format and became the ‘Leading Foodie blog in Brussels’ (The Bulletin), shortly afterwards the blog was voted as one of the ’10 best culinary blogs of Belgium’ (Knack Weekend and Vif L’Express).

Eric became the foodie journalist of Bruzz with a weekly food chronicle and inspired the listeners to savour local restaurants and try new flavours.

Together with the new format of the Tasting and Living site, a print publication is in the making, focussing on local food, foodie people, travel, botanics and flavours from the Cape Town area and further inland from the Karoo. The publication will be available through the online shop. Limited and signed edition photoprints will also be available.
